gentle yoga Gentle yoga is far less strenuous than other forms of yoga. Explore basic yoga poses, with a connection to breath, alignment and mindfulness. Therapeutic in nature, you will learn techniques to help you gain flexibility at a comfortably slow pace, allowing ample time to explore and enjoy each pose. The modifications of standard poses help to remove unnecessary strain and make it more accessible to people of all sizes, ages and fitness levels.

hatha yoga Hatha yoga is a mindful practice, focused on alignment and form, breath awareness, and calming of the mind through relaxation and meditation while challenging the body’s endurance. Hatha yoga strives towards balance of mind and body through physical postures, or “asanas”, challenging your poise, balance and increasing your strength and flexibility, leaving you feeling relaxed, refreshed and renewed! Building on the fundamentals of smart start yoga, this class will progress through the postures.

yin yang yoga Let your body move and groove, and then let it relax and release. Yin yang yoga is a balance between the yang (active, faster paced, strong and warming) and the yin (slow and sustained passive stretching) to allow a deeper practice to realize both energy and relaxation. Enjoy the build of heat, challenging the strength of the body during the active power flow and then the gentle cooling of the body, challenging the strength of the mind during the stillness of the yin release.

yin yoga Yin Yoga is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga and all physical activities or sports. This complex practice of floor poses has a myriad of benefits for any yoga practitioner. People with tight hip flexors, hamstrings and who have lower back aches will benefit greatly from yin yoga because it will bring space and openness to these tight areas. This soft and slow practice can be quite challenging due to the long duration of the poses which generally target the connective tissues, such as the ligaments and tendons that normally are not exercised very much. *Suitable for all fitness levels, but please check with your physician if you have any pre - existing injuries.

yoga for cancer survivors Research has shown that exercise is both safe and beneficial for all stages of the cancer experience (ie post-diagnosis, during treatment, post-treatment). This gentle yoga is for people who are particularly stiff, immobile, injured, ill, or under extreme stress. No previous yoga experience is required. The instructor has received exercise and cancer-specific training, but please consult your doctor prior to the class starting to ensure there are no specific precautions or considerations based on your individual diagnosis and treatment. Family and friends are welcome to register in this class with you. Please bring your own yoga mat and blanket.
